1968 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTAm
A seguito dei successi ottenuti tra il 1965 e il 1967 dalla bellissima Alfa Romeo GTA, versione alleggerita della Giulia 1.6 Sprint GT e Giulia 1.3 Gt Junior, in Autodelta decisero di utilizzare la nuova nata 1750 Gt Veloce come base per la realizzazione del nuovo modello da competizione che verrà utilizzato nel Campionato Europeo Turismo gruppo 2. nacque così la GTAm. La versione utilizzata era la scocca americana a Iniezione, scocca 105.51, con motore testa stretta a doppia accensione e iniezione Spica portato dagli originali 1.750cm3 a 2.000cm3
Le prestazioni furono ottime, segnate con la vittoria assoluta nel campionato europeo turismo sia come piloti, con Toine Hezemans nel 1970 che come costruttori nel 1971 e 1972.
In teoria 19 vetture furono costruite direttamente dall’Autodelta e circa 40 da officine e team che acquistavano direttamente il kit (disponibile per tutti) dall’Autodelta.
L’esemplare che proponiamo, una delle prime 1000 scocche americane prodotte, è molto interessante in quanto è un’ottima base di partenza sia per la realizzazione di una vettura da competizione che per l’utilizzo come vettura stradale.

Following the success gained between 1965 and 1967 by the beautiful Alfa Romeo GTA, a lightened version of the 1.6 Giulia Sprint GT and 1.3 Giulia GT Junior, Autodelta (the Alfa Romeo racing division) decided to use the the new born 1750 GT Veloce as starting point to build the new Group 2 racing car to compete in the European Touring Car Championship. The GTAm was born. The shell used to build the GTAm was the American version of the 1750 GT Veloce, internal code 105.51, with a narrow head twin spark engine with Spica fuel injection, re-bored to be 2,000cm3 instead of the original 1,750cm3.
The performance were great, with the overall win in the European Touring Car Championship for driver, in 1970 with Toine Hezemans and constructor, in 1971 and 1972.
It is reckon that 19 cars were built directly by Autodelta and approximately 40 by private teams and workshops, buying the racing kit directly from Autodelta.
This 1968 1750 GT Veloce is one of the first 1,000 American shell constructed, a very interesting example as it is the perfect starting point to build a racing group 2 GTAm and also it is a fantastic road version GTAm.
